    Name, age, suburb, occupation?

Judy Friedman, 50, ‘Innocent Bystander’ at BrickResales

What are your very first memories of LEGO toys?

Going to my friend’s house to play with her brother’s LEGO sets until she worked it out, then things go a bit tense LOL.

What’s your favourite LEGO theme, if you have one, and why?

Harry Potter, anything R2D2 and Yoda.

    Describe your best ever MOC?

I have made so many awesome creations. My most enjoyable has been the Great Barrier Reef that I partnered with Frances to build. My plan is to redo it with all my new ideas and special parts I’ve been collecting.

Describe your current or most recent LEGO project?

About to build the new Yoda bust.

Dream big. If you could build anything out of LEGO bricks, what would that dream build be?

A full-size Christmas tree which would be on display all year ’round.

If you were building yourself as a LEGO Minifigure, what would be the defining characteristic or LEGO accessory that your sigfig would have, that would make it so you?

A BrickResales shirt of course! And my curly hair.

Weirdest place/s you’ve ever seen or discovered a LEGO brick?

We ‘grow’ them in our garden beds. They are blown off the drying tables all the time!

Complete this sentence: I know I’m a total LEGO geek/fanatic because...

I dream, sleep, build, and it never leaves me. I even found my love of my life through the LEGO community!

What do you love most about BrickResales?

I decided to do one thing and do it well, so I created it!

    Name, age, suburb, occupation?

Greg Manning, 49, Albany Creek. I’m the Operations Manager at BrickResales.

What are your very first memories of LEGO toys?

My first memories are of the Space Lander set... lots of blue bricks and the first of the articulated arm large minifigs.

What’s your favourite LEGO theme, if you have one, and why?

Favourite theme is classic Technic sets, back when Technic used the studded beams. It was the era of the Technic super car/auto chassis models (early 1980s).

Do you MOC? If so, describe your best ever MOC?

I do MOC, mainly large-scale vehicles or in similar scale to the LEGO produced Volkswagen Kombi/ Beetle. I have a collection of vehicles from my favourite movies including the General Lee Dodge Charger from Dukes of Hazard, Ecto 1 from Ghostbusters, Pursuit Special from Mad Max, Batmobile from 89 Batman movie and my favourite MOC... the Delorean from Back to the Future.

Describe your current or most recent LEGO project?

I am currently building some more of my MOC minifigs-scale Kombis. I am trying to build one in each of the available colours, currently at about 25 different versions.

Dream big. If you could build anything out of LEGO bricks, what would that dream build be?

I would love to be able to build a large space display, using the Classic Space colours of light grey, blue and trans yellow.

If you were building yourself as a LEGO Minifigure, what would be the defining characteristic or LEGO accessory that your sigfig would have, that would make it so you?

A minifig head with a grey goatee.

Weirdest place/s you’ve ever seen or discovered a LEGO brick?

When working several years ago as a cleaner in a resort, I came across a minifig in the garden outside a unit.

Complete this sentence: I know I’m a total LEGO geek/fanatic because...

I have a LEGO Batman tattoo on my wrist.

Tell us about your history/experience with BrickResales? What do you love most about BrickResales?

Working at BrickResales gives me full access to all the parts coming in - lucky me!

    Name, age, suburb, occupation?

Adam 'Bilsy' Bilsborough, 35, Gold Coast radio announcer and contestant on Channel Nine’s TV show, LEGO Masters Australia 2019

What are your very first memories of LEGO toys

Playing with a police station set at my grandma's when I was very young.

What’s your favourite LEGO theme, if you have one, and why?

BrickHeadz, by far! The technical parts usage is so amazing and I love the fact that you can make a LEGO version of yourself or friends, or even a character out of any person you admire or a fan of.

    Describe your best ever MOC?

My best MOC would be the unicorn bike from LEGO Masters Australia. I've also made a working record player 99 per cent out of LEGO pieces with only the needle pick up being a non-LEGO part.

Describe your current or most recent LEGO project?

I'm currently building a diorama of a gym that's here on the Gold Coast.

Dream big. If you could build anything out of LEGO bricks, what would that dream build be?

Well, I love cars. The fully working Bugatti was pretty awesome. So I'd say a full-size working car is up there!

If you were building yourself as a LEGO Minifigure, what would be the defining characteristic or LEGO accessory that your sigfig would have, that would make it so you?

    Headphones.

Weirdest place/s you’ve ever seen or discovered a LEGO brick?

I had to do sound installation once at a gentlemen's club. There was a tub of LEGO bricks at the back for when the girls weren’t on stage.

Complete this sentence: I know I’m a total LEGO geek/fanatic because...

    I have multiple LEGO-themed tattoos.

Tell us about your history/experience with BrickResales? What do you love most about BrickResales?

What I really love about BrickResales other than the enormous amounts of loose LEGO, the rare and old sets, and the fact that they always have what I want is... the people! They are very knowledgeable and always more than willing to help. They like to have a chat about what projects you are building and just get all nerdy about LEGO stuff. Love them!

Making a Spinosaurus robot when I was about 8.

What’s your favourite LEGO theme (ie. Star Wars, Harry Potter, City, Friends, Classic Space, Creator etc)?

    Ideas and Jurassic World.

Yes. My best one ever is probably the Gentle Giants Retreat with dinosaurs eating leaves off the treehouse set.

Dinosaur fossil builds. So far, I am at 51 total, but who knows when I’ll stop!

If you could build anything out of LEGO bricks, what would be your dream build?

A 1:1 scale Australotitan, the largest dinosaur from Australia.

If you were building yourself as a LEGO Minifigure (called a “signature figurine” or “sigfig” for short), what would be the defining characteristic or LEGO accessory that your sigfig would have, that would make it so you?

A broadbrim hat, dinosaur egg and magnifying glass.

Weirdest place/s you’ve ever seen or discovered a LEGO brick?

Stuck to my leg under a band aid – still don’t know how it got there!

I spend too much time at BrickResales :P. And, because I have bought set 21320 twelve times to build fossils with.

Tell us about your history/experience with BrickResales? What do you love most about BrickResales?

Scrooge McDuck levels of random LEGO, you never know what you will find!

    Name, age, suburb, occupation?

Frances Curby, 81, Nambour. I’ve had so many jobs – I’ve done everything from driving a school bus, to nursing, to volunteering for the SES. I’m the mother of six boys and I’m best known as a professional volunteer. Nowadays I run the Minifigs section at the BrickResales events for Judy.

What are your very first memories of LEGO toys?

Buying Classic Space sets back in 1978, for the kids.

    What’s your favourite LEGO theme?

It’s not so much a theme, but I LOVE Minifigures the best. I’ve been collecting Minifigs for 36 years. I’ve got 8000 of them! I also love LEGO Ninjago.

Do you MOC (ie. build your own creations, sans-instructions)? If so, describe your best ever MOC?

I prefer to build sets although I do MOC little things – I built some tiny silver pigeons recently out of medieval weapons parts.

Describe your current or most recent LEGO project?

I am MOCing a Great Barrier Reef scene with Judy (Friedman) at the moment.

If you could build anything out of LEGO bricks, what would be your dream build?

The big Disney Cinderella’s Castle set.

If you were building yourself as a LEGO Minifigure (called a “signature figurine” or “sigfig” for short), what would be the defining characteristic or LEGO accessory that your sigfig would have, that would make it so you?

Pig tails! My sigfig has long grey pigtails that came with a Minifigure in a Lone Ranger set (Chief Big Bear).

Weirdest place/s you’ve ever seen or discovered a LEGO brick?

When the kids were young, I’d always see bricks in the yard or in the vacuum. Nowadays, we see them at Op Shops and even at the dump!

Complete this sentence: I know I’m a total LEGO geek/fanatic because...

I dress in it! Everyone knows me here at BrickResales as the lady with the LEGO hat at the Minifigs tables.

Tell us about your history/experience with BrickResales? What do you love most about BrickResales?

I originally discovered BrickResales about three years ago when I was buying LEGO pieces from Judy. It’s better to buy pre-loved LEGO bricks at BrickResales than on the Internet – you save the freight cost and you can find exactly what you want. It’s a really great service for LEGO fans.

    Name, age, suburb, occupation?

Bill Gallina, 41, Highland Park, Gold Coast. Sales Manager and Chief Creator at #bilzasbrickbuilds.

What are your very first memories of LEGO toys?

My first memory of having LEGO sets was Fabuland and the classic space sets.

What’s your favourite LEGO theme, if you have one, and why (ie. Star Wars, Harry Potter, City, Friends, Classic Space, Creator etc)?

My favourite themes are City and Creator, but my ultimate favourite theme growing up was 90s Pirates.

Do you MOC? If so, describe your best ever MOC?

Yes! I mainly do City-style MOCs with modular scale buildings that span multiple tables, which I display regularly at various event shows. Although I have switched it up of late to include a full, table-sized castle layout and three-foot LEGO fish tank.

Describe your current or most recent LEGO project?

I’m currently working on a secret double-table-sized MOC for the second half of the 2020 shows, so stay tuned 🙂

Dream big. If you could build anything out of LEGO bricks, what would that dream build be?

I’d love to have a go at a large-scale historic colosseum, or a giant modern-day baseball stadium.

If you were building yourself as a LEGO Minifigure, what would be the defining characteristic or LEGO accessory that your sigfig would have, that would make it so you?

It would be either Red Brick Guy or Hotdog Man – they’ve always been my favourites. As for accessories, there are so many cool ones to choose from so pretty much anything other than stud shooters. I hate those things, haha.

Weirdest place/s you’ve ever seen or discovered a LEGO brick?

I actually found a red space helmet whilst snorkelling in Cairns about 20 years ago. Still have it somewhere, too.

Complete this sentence: I know I’m a total LEGO geek/fanatic because...

I have a dedicated trailer for LEGO shows and my LEGO room is the largest room in the house – and you still can’t move around in there, haha.

Tell us about your history/experience with BrickResales? What do you love most about BrickResales?

I absolutely love BrickResales events and look forward to them when building. I always attend with a mindset of what I need for the current project, and end up leave with so many more pieces for future projects that I didn’t know I needed. It’s like the pieces randomly speak to me during my search.

No favourites. I have a mix of new, classic and oddball sets.

Probably my Stormtrooper helmet mosaic made of Star Wars minifigures.

Describe your current or most recent LEGO project?

A dieselpunk cityscape with a dock for flying cargo ships, plus hot rods and weird gangs.

If you could build anything out of LEGO bricks, what would be your dream build?

A huge multi-level science fiction city.

If you were building yourself as a LEGO Minifigure (called a “signature figurine” or “sigfig” for short), what would be the defining characteristic or LEGO accessory that your sigfig would have, that would make it so you?

Space Wyldstyle's blue hoodie neck piece on a blue torso.

Complete this sentence: I know I’m a total LEGO geek/fanatic because...

We built our first home and made sure we had a LEGO room.

Tell us about your history/experience with BrickResales? What do you love most about BrickResales?

Taking my daughter to the sales so she could fill a bag with pieces she thought were cool. While I did exactly the same thing.

City – I have all the city workers, construction sites, the airport.

Only a few – but the best was a Top Gun movie scene.

Describe your current or most recent LEGO project?

    City Construction site.

What are your very first memories of LEGO toys?

My first lego set was The Lego Sponge Bob Krusty Krab set

What’s your favourite LEGO theme (ie. Star Wars, Harry Potter, City, Friends, Classic Space, Creator etc.)?

My favourite theme of all time is LEGO Star Wars.

Do you MOC (ie. build your own creations, sans-instructions)? If so, describe your best ever MOC?

Yes I do MOC. My best MOC would be my desert cave entrance which is a façade of an abandoned mine shaft.

Describe your current or most recent LEGO project?

My most recent LEGO MOC would be my lego Star Wars Jabbas Palace side building which is an add on that connects to the left side of the original set. I built this because in the movie there is a third section of the main palace which is missing from the set.

If you could build anything out of LEGO bricks, what would be your dream build?

It would probably be a Star Wars location from a planet like Tatooine or Naboo.

If you were building yourself as a LEGO Minifigure (called a “signature figurine” or “sigfig” for short), what would be the defining characteristic or LEGO accessory that your sigfig would have, that would make it so you?

A movie poster would be my sigfigs' accessory. This is because I am a massive geek of most movie franchises.

Weirdest place/s you’ve ever seen or discovered a LEGO brick?

The weirdest place I have found a LEGO brick would be on the beach

Complete this sentence: I know I’m a total LEGO geek/fanatic because...

Tell us about your history/experience with BrickResales? What do you love most about BrickResales?

    Name, age, suburb, occupation?

Daniel Hobbs, 39, Bray Park. LEGO enthusiast, new to the BrickResales team.

What are your very first memories of LEGO toys?

Growing up I had a small collection of classic space LEGO parts that my dad and I would play with (and luckily, I still own). I always loved visiting my cousins who had the Black Seas Barracuda, which we would play with for hours.

What’s your favourite LEGO theme (ie. Star Wars, Harry Potter, City, Friends, Classic Space, Creator etc)?

    Classic Castle and Pirate themes.

Do you MOC (ie. build your own creations, sans-instructions)? If so, describe your best ever MOC?

I haven’t really tried my hand at too many MOCs, but one of my favourite builds that I have is a castle-themed functional Nintendo. I took the internals of the console and built a custom case around it. It even has the fold up cartridge door, and the power light illuminates some trans red bricks like a torch, while the controller ports are hidden away
behind a menacing spider and his web.

Describe your current or most recent LEGO project?

At the moment, I am piecing together a Howls Moving Castle – not my creation, created by Marcin Otręba. At home, I have handed the main LEGO table over to my youngest daughter for her to create her LEGO City. It has been loads of fun sharing our love for LEGO play together.

If you could build anything out of LEGO bricks, what would be your dream build?

A life-size build of King Kahuka, the leader of the islanders would be pretty rad, or an epic castle scene with orcs riding dinosaurs into battle against their human foe.

If you were building yourself as a LEGO Minifigure (called a "signature figurine” or “sigfig” for short), what would be the defining characteristic or LEGO accessory that your sigfig would have, that would make it so you?

I would have a bushy beard and sideburns, and be wearing a funky shirt.

Weirdest place/s you’ve ever seen or discovered a LEGO brick?

I used to work in the building industry and LEGO bricks would turn up at job sites that were knock down rebuilds.

Complete this sentence: I know I’m a total LEGO geek/fanatic because...

Our double garage is full of LEGO parts and other awesome 80s gear.

Tell us about your history/experience with BrickResales? What do you love most about BrickResales?

I have known Judy for around 10 years now. I used to buy LEGO parts from her when she was working out of a single garage at home. I would also often attend many events in Strathpine, sometimes helping to set up. It’s absolutely amazing to see where BrickResales is today and to be a part of a great team.

    Name, age, suburb, occupation?

My name is Mel Wieland, I’m 44 and I live in Nudgee where I also work as a personal trainer.

What are your very first memories of LEGO toys?

The first memory I have of LEGO toys is a double decker bus that I made when I was young, which I squeezed my two guinea pigs into (haha) and pushed around. I’m not sure they enjoyed that as much as I did.

What’s your favourite LEGO theme (ie. Star Wars, Harry Potter, City, Friends, Classic Space, Creator etc)?

My favourite LEGO theme is Harry Potter, I love the muted colours, the play features and the way that the sets can be combined from each wave of releases. Although I do like a bit of Ninjago for the brightness and random colour!

Do you MOC (ie. build your own creations, sans-instructions)? If so, describe your best ever MOC?

I’m not a big MOC person as yet, but I watch and learn, and am in awe of those who do such amazing things. I have built a Wizard of Oz picture with a yellow brick road and the CMF minifigures – so cute. My son is getting into MOCs more and more. He will generally buy a set, build it, and then re-build it better, with cleaner lines, etc. He is currently working on a ‘room of antiquities’ where he is collecting unusual LEGO pieces and building bookshelves to store them. It’s looking really amazing.

Describe your current or most recent LEGO project?

My last build was the recent Privet Drive release from Harry Potter, it was the last one to be completed from that wave.

If you could build anything out of LEGO, what would be your dream build?

My dream build would be Minas Tirith from LOTR. Although all the white would probably do my head in.

Weirdest place/s you’ve ever seen or discovered a LEGO brick?

I found a LEGO brick in our garden once. The garden hadn’t been touched in years! Goodness knows how long it had been there.

Complete this sentence: I know I’m a total LEGO geek/fanatic..

When I walk into a LEGO store and they know me by name, or when I look at an odd LEGO piece and go, “Oh that’s from such and such set…”

Tell us about your history/experience with BrickResales? What do you love most about BrickResales?

My son Xavier and I have been going to BrickResales for a couple of years now. We started going when we were building a MOC of the Guardians of the Galaxy ship, the Milano. It was a design that we had bought. It took us 14 months of constantly going and searching for pieces. We now go all the time (until the pandemic) and can’t wait to see what we can find!!

What are your very first memories of LEGO toys?

They go way back! I remember building castle sets as a six year old.

    What’s your favourite LEGO theme?

    Traditional castles.

Do you MOC (ie. build your own creations, sans-instructions)? If so, describe your best ever MOC?

Yes! My best MOC is my medieval display. It fills three tables. There’s the ‘Dragon’s Keep’ mountain castle, a lava moat, village and loads more.

Describe your current or most recent LEGO project?

I’m building a strategic board game out of LEGO pieces – it’s called “Knights to Kings”. Players battle to control enough land to become the ultimate ruler.

If you could build anything out of LEGO bricks, what would be your dream build?

    A MEGA castle!

If you were building yourself as a LEGO Minifigure (called a “signature figurine” or “sigfig” for short), what would be the defining characteristic or LEGO accessory that your sigfig would have, that would make it so you?

    Extra-tall legs!

Weirdest place/s you’ve ever seen or discovered a LEGO brick?

It’s never in weird places or on the floor – I like to keep my LEGO collection really organised.

Complete this sentence: I know I’m a total LEGO geek/fanatic because...

I’ve made a board game out of LEGO pieces!

Tell us about your history/experience with BrickResales? What do you love most about BrickResales?

It’s fun coming to BrickResales events – you never know what you’re going to find. I come in with a list and end up leaving with so many more extras. It’s like treasure hunting and there are loads of bargains. I’ve found really rare parts here.

    Name, age, suburb, occupation?

Andrew Tuppen, 50, music teacher and contestant on Channel Nine’s TV show, LEGO Masters Australia 2020.

What are your very first memories of LEGO toys?

As a kid purchasing the very first Space LEGO set. I was in love with the Minifig from the beginning and enjoyed building, rebuilding and then constructing my own space buildings. I also moved onto LEGO City shortly after that.

What’s your favourite LEGO theme (ie. Star Wars, Harry Potter, City, Friends, Classic Space, Creator etc)?

Probably Creator as I mostly build MOCS, but I do love LEGO Trains a lot as well.

Do you MOC? If so, describe your best ever MOC?

That’s pretty much all I do now. I’ve been trying various different ways of construction and modelling, even before LEGO Masters, from architecture to space, and from prehistoric creatures to modern Mechs (large scale robots controlled by people or, rather, Minifigs).

Describe your current or most recent LEGO project?

I recently completed a Chinese dragon. It’s about 80 centimetres long so it’s quite large.

If you could build anything out of LEGO bricks, what would be your dream build?

I think I just did it on LEGO Masters – it was a stadium with Mechs. I would love to build Godzilla raging through a city while being attacked by a large scale Mech!

If you were building yourself as a LEGO Minifigure (called a “signature figurine” or “sigfig” for short), what would be the defining characteristic or LEGO accessory that your sigfig would have, that would make it so you?

A model train, if they had one.

Weirdest place/s you’ve ever seen or discovered a LEGO brick?
At Bunnings I found a LEGO brick and it had been completely flattened!

Tell us about your history/experience with BrickResales? What do you love most about BrickResales?

I first came to BrickResales in north Brisbane a couple of years ago. I had heard from a friend that there was this place you could go where bricks could be purchased in bulk. I remember going and thinking, “This is amazing”. I think I must have spent about $100 on LEGO parts that day, and for me that’s a lot. Since then I have had a few opportunities to go to BrickResales and purchase even more bricks. I love what they stand for and find it a great place to not only buy bricks but to spend time with fellow LEGO lovers.

    Name, suburb, occupation

Brent Waller, LEGO creator from Brisbane.

I'm probably most well known for being the creator of the LEGO Ghostbusters Ideas set from back in 2014, I did some work for the LEGO Batman Movie, including a bunch of the vehicles in the Batcave scenes (like the one the Joker wipes his butt on), I created what I think is still the largest LEGO Batcave in the World and more recently I'm the creator of the just announced LEGO Seinfeld 30th Anniversary project for LEGO Ideas.

What are your very first memories of LEGO toys?

I know I had LEGO toys before this, but the earliest memory I had was on my 5th birthday, I got the LEGO Fire Station 6382. I opened it that morning and built a little bit before I had to leave for school. I just remember the whole day at school wanting to get home to finish building it and play with it.

What’s your favourite LEGO theme, if you have one, and why (ie. Star Wars, Harry Potter, City, Friends, Classic Space, Creator etc)?

The only theme that I will consistently buy no questions asked is the Creator Modular series. The Green Grocer was my first big set coming out of my dark ages and they're always great builds, with great parts to use for other creations.

Do you MOC (ie. build your own creations, sans-instructions)? If so, describe your best ever MOC?

With some exceptions, most sets I buy don't last long together, I end up breaking them apart pretty quickly to use the parts for other creations. Probably my best and biggest MOC would be my Batcave, which as far as I know was the biggest one in the world. It stood taller than me and featured a rotating garage of Bat-vehicles, a moving clothes rack filled with a variety of Batsuits not to mention a giant Wayne Manor on top of it all.

Dream big. If you could build anything out of LEGO bricks, what would that dream build be? Or, describe your current or most recent LEGO project?

I usually don't talk about the things I'm currently working on as I have a habit of not finishing them if I'm unhappy with them or putting them on hold for extended periods of time. I find it hard to come up with my "dream" build, I'm used to be being constrained by the parts I have and working around those limitations, which is half the fun. Given unlimited bricks and time I'd probably have extended creative block.

If you were building yourself as a LEGO Minifigure, what would be the defining characteristic or LEGO accessory that your sigfig would have, that would make it so you?

I have quite "boofy" curvy hair that LEGO doesn't really make a hairpiece for yet. There's some that are close, but I think if they made one that matched, that would probably be the most defining feature as I'm pretty ordinary otherwise.

Weirdest place/s you’ve ever seen or discovered a LEGO brick?

I've found parts digging in my backyard, it would have been parts from well beyond when I lived here as they were in places that were under pavers that I was pulling up.

Complete this sentence: I know I’m a total LEGO geek/fanatic because...

People often just call me "the LEGO nerd" or something similar in introductions.

Tell us about your history/experience with BrickResales? What do you love most about BrickResales?

I love digging through the trays trying to find gems or parts I really need for something I'm working on, it's often the only time I can get a variety of parts I need in one place. A good chunk of my LEGO Bonsai creation came from BrickResales.

Pick a Brick at LEGO stores are great, you can get good quantity of parts in one place, but generally there's not much variety. With BrickResales I can grab a bag or more of a bunch of different parts from different eras, parts that The LEGO Group doesn't even make anymore.

Magnus Hindsberger, 46, The Gap, manager in the energy sector.

What are your very first memories of LEGO toys?

Visiting Legoland in Denmark as a six year old.

    What’s your favourite LEGO theme?

    Harry Potter.

Do you MOC (ie. build your own creations, sans-instructions)? If so, describe your best ever MOC?

My Hogwarts Castle. It’s a collaborative Harry Potter project and covers four tables in total. My section is the Hogwarts Castle and is the size of two tables. We had it at three shows in 2018 and will have it at Brisbane’s Oz Comic-Con in 2019.

Describe your current or most recent LEGO project?

I’m building Diagon Alley, the wizarding alley shopping area from Harry Potter. It’s about the size of half a table at the moment.

If you could build anything out of LEGO, what would be your dream build?

    An EVEN BIGGER Hogwarts Castle!

If you were building yourself as a LEGO Minifigure (called a “signature figurine” or “sigfig” for short), what would be the defining characteristic or LEGO accessory that your sigfig would have, that would make it so you?

My sigfig has “I love Denmark” on his shirt. I bought it in Copenhagen.

Weirdest place/s you’ve ever seen or discovered a LEGO brick?

    In the garden.

Complete this sentence: I know I’m a total LEGO geek/fanatic because...

I’m running out of space in my home!

Tell us about your history/experience with BrickResales? What do you love most about BrickResales?

The best part is the variety of bricks you can find. I actually get inspiration for builds from searching through the containers.

    Name, age, suburb, occupation?

Jeremy Beckett, 47, Nundah, freelance AFOL journalist/bicycle mechanic.

What are your very first memories of LEGO toys?

I have a couple of early memories - the first would be buying a pack of street signs in the mid 70s and getting a Shell fuel tanker while recovering from a childhood illness. My favourite though is buying the Galaxy Explorer for Christmas. My worst is waiting out the months to Christmas so I could open it!

What’s your favourite LEGO theme, if you have one, and why (ie. Star Wars, Harry Potter, City, Friends, Classic Space, Creator etc)?

It's easily LEGO Star Wars. Are there other themes?!?!?

Do you MOC (ie. build your own creations, sans-instructions)? If so, describe your best ever MOC?

Kind of, but not really. I OPC (Other Peoples Creations) because I never learned the various design and building techniques.

Describe your current or most recent LEGO project?

Writing about LEGO Star Wars for Rebelscum is my current project, and I've got the new The Rise Of Skywalker sets to build and review (I'm really looking forward to the new Yoda statue.) Further down the line I've got some talks and articles to write for Star Wars Celebration in California next year.

Dream big. If you could build anything out of LEGO bricks, what would that dream build be?

I'd love to build the umbilical tower for the Saturn V set. My boy is getting the rocket for Christmas, as well as the Lunar Lander - don't tell him though - so I'd love to have a cool display to put it on.

If you were building yourself as a LEGO Minifigure, what would be the defining characteristic or LEGO accessory that your sigfig would have, that would make it so you?

I'd get a custom torso printed with the same graphic as the minifigure that came with the black VIP card holder that early bird owners of the UCS Millennium Falcon got!

Weirdest place/s you’ve ever seen or discovered a LEGO brick?

Like most kids I've got a "I had LEGO brick pulled out of my nose" story but I don't remember it happening, so I suppose it's the 2x4 red brick I embedded in my newly poured cement drive because selling off my much-loved UCS collection paid for the deposit on our first house in Australia.

Complete this sentence: I know I’m a total LEGO geek/fanatic because...

Because my front teeth are criss-crossed with microfractures caused by forty years of separating bricks.

Tell us about your history/experience with BrickResales? What do you love most about BrickResales?

It's easily the most welcoming and least judgmental community - in the LEGO world or otherwise - I've ever been part of in my life. That, and the fact that I know all the bricks are clean, makes Brick Resales my go-to source for loose LEGO elements.

    Name, age, suburb, occupation?

Jodie Gallina, 38, Nerang, public servant.

What are your very first memories of LEGO toys?

Definitely not as a child. My first memories would have actually been with my husband – he came out of his Dark Ages once the kids came along.

What’s your favourite LEGO theme (ie. Star Wars, Harry Potter, City, Friends, Classic Space, Creator etc)?

I love mosaics – especially of scenery – and doing minifig habitats. I also love movie-themed LEGO builds, like Forest Gump and superhero stuff with the kids.

Do you MOC (ie. build your own creations, sans-instructions)? If so, describe your best ever MOC?

My best ever MOC was a 32x32 mosaic of San Francisco.

Describe your current or most recent LEGO project?

I’m doing a few habitats, but once we get the new CMFs I’ll plan more based on what’s there. We like to wait for each season and pick the minifigs we like, then come up with a story.

If you could build anything out of LEGO bricks, what would be your dream build?

We did an aquarium and my dream is to extend it, but I don’t have any new ideas – yet!

If you were building yourself as a LEGO Minifigure (called a “signature figurine” or “sigfig” for short), what would be the defining characteristic or LEGO accessory that your sigfig would have, that would make it so you?

    Some great shoes.

Weirdest place/s you’ve ever seen or discovered a LEGO brick?

We found a piece on the street in Burleigh once. At home it’s always popping up in the washing machine, but I’ve even found some in the cat litter…

Complete this sentence: I know I’m a total LEGO geek/fanatic because...

It’s part of our everyday life. Everything, somehow, revolves around LEGO toys.

Tell us about your history/experience with BrickResales? What do you love most about BrickResales?

We go along every single time – we’ve spent hours here, but today is our first day actually helping out. I can’t remember where we met Judy, though. We display our creations everywhere, so it was probably at one of those events. We just love the variety. There’s so much at hand.

Lexi McMahon. 31. Sydney. Video editor and graphic design student. Contestant on 'LEGO Masters Australia Season 4'.

What are your very first memories of LEGO toys?

As a kid we used to have this massive tub of LEGO parts, and I just remember how much fun it was to dig through it, connecting the bricks and building towers.

What’s your favourite LEGO theme (ie. Star Wars, Harry Potter, City, Friends, Classic Space, Creator etc)?

I would have to say Disney. The Disney castle has been my favourite build, and the only set I've purchased to display. I even went out and bought a glass display cabinet in advance in preparation for the beautiful castle. I love that with each new set I build, LEGO teaches me a new technique.

Do you MOC (ie. build your own creations, sans-instructions)? If so, describe your best ever MOC?

I absolutely love to MOC. I love doing detailed interiors to use as a set to photograph minifigures, and I also make extravagant exterior buildings. My most recent is always my favourite.

Describe your current or most recent LEGO project?

I recently built a beautiful house, using a picture of the house from Disney's UP as inspiration. It was tricky trying to problem solve how to do a hexagon shaped room, but it looked so good in the end. I couldn't replicate the same colour panel as the UP house as I was limited to the pieces I have, but I was glad I had just spent the last BrickResales event collecting as many black roof pieces as I could find because that completed the build. I also built a replica of the LEGO gingerbread house set without instructions – just using the promo picture as a reference. I love the challenge of trying to figure out how to do it.

If you could build anything out of LEGO bricks, what would be your dream build?

I would love to have a whole bunch of LEGO maxi figs like at Legoland but have them as part of the furniture – for example, each maxifig could be a leg of a table.

If you were building yourself as a LEGO Minifigure (called a “signature figurine” or “sigfig” for short), what would be the defining characteristic or LEGO accessory that your sigfig would have, that would make it so you?

My sigfig would need a camera in hand and purple hair.

Weirdest place/s you’ve ever seen or discovered a LEGO brick?

I'm going to tell you my most annoying place instead. I build sitting on a single recliner couch with containers all around me and a table on my lap. When things fall off my table, they fall into what I call the ‘black hole’ – the couch sucks in pieces and they vanish, never to be seen again. One day it will be funny to shake the couch upside down and see how many LEGO bricks fall out.

Complete this sentence: I know I’m a total LEGO geek/fanatic because...

I know I'm a total LEGO geek because on my days off I spend eight straight hours building, and when I go overseas Minifigures come with me.

Tell us about your history/experience with BrickResales? What do you love most about BrickResales?

My MOC game has increased dramatically since I came to my first BrickResales event in July 2019. Having access to infinite pieces, unique and common, has opened up a world of possibilities. My LEGO collection expanded so rapidly that I started storing it differently – now, I organise my LEGO elements into containers based on the kind of piece it is which has changed my life. I now have the most productive builds, because when I want a certain piece, I don't lose any time searching for it. Unfortunately, I don't have room to store my builds, so I get the joy of building them and then enjoy photographing them – then, I break them back down. Bringing myself to break the MOCs was hard at first, because I was so proud of the finished build. But I have to remind myself that the next amazing build might never have happened if I don't keep reusing pieces... and I have my Instagram account to look back on.

What’s your favourite LEGO theme (ie. Star Wars, Harry Potter, City, Friends, Classic Space, Creator etc)?

I love superheroes, like Marvel and DC.

Do you MOC (ie. build your own creations, sans-instructions)? If so, describe your best ever MOC?

I’m starting to get into it. I made Scrooge’s vault recently, after buying the designs off someone and collecting all of the pieces. My best build is probably Groot, which I made multiples of and sold at the last Brick Fair. They sold out really quickly.

Describe your current or most recent LEGO project?

I’ve got about seven MOCs on the go at the moment. I’m working on a large Wall-E with a friend – he’s actually the one who got me out of my “Dark Ages” (the period after childhood before you rediscover LEGO play) because he got back into LEGO building when he had kids.

If you could build anything out of LEGO bricks, what would be your dream build?

A Spiderman bust, using clear bricks to create a cool see-through look at the bottom where the spider is crawling down his chest.

If you were building yourself as a LEGO Minifigure (called a “signature figurine” or “sigfig” for short), what would be the defining characteristic or LEGO accessory that

Probably an ‘A’, like a modified Avengers symbol.

    What’s your favourite LEGO theme?

Star Wars. And I like building Creator modular houses.

Do you MOC (ie. build your own creations, sans-instructions)? If so, describe your best ever MOC?

Yes. I like building MOC mosaics, especially Star Wars-themed mosaics. It’s like cross stitching with LEGO pieces. I’ve had my mosaics at BrisBricks shows.

Describe your current or most recent LEGO project?

What are your very first memories of LEGO toys?

First memory is my first set, the vacation house set, 6349, from the late 80s, which I got for Christmas. I still have it today. I also remember using batteries and torch globes and Christmas lights to create lighting effects back when I was in primary school.

What’s your favourite LEGO theme (ie. Star Wars, Harry Potter, City, Friends, Classic Space, Creator etc)?

Favourite themes are creator expert and Star Wars. I've always loved Star Wars and the creator modular buildings have lots of great building techniques, plus look great when you display them.

Do you MOC (ie. build your own creations, sans-instructions)? If so, describe your best ever MOC?

In keeping with the modular themes, I have built a couple of custom buildings, detailing the interior and making each floor detachable, same as the mainstream buildings. My pub (Joe's not Moe’s) has a bar with all the drinks, some tables and a bathroom on the bottom floor. A stage area with a disco in the middle level, and the top floor has some cosy accommodation rooms and a shower. It’s finished off with a rooftop garden.

Describe your current or most recent LEGO project?

My most recent display consisted of a handful of modulars, both modified and MOCs on a city street with lots of lighting effects, i.e. working traffic lights and streetlights, construction vehicles flashing lights, a disco/DJ area, internal building lighting and a lightsabre battle.

If you could build anything out of LEGO bricks, what would be your dream build?

My other financially draining hobby is riding my jet ski. I think it would be awesome to do a life-size version of one and hope to attempt it one day. (Maybe before Brickman does one).

If you were building yourself as a LEGO Minifigure (called a “signature figurine” or “sigfig” for short), what would be the defining characteristic or LEGO accessory that your sigfig would have, that would make it so you?

My sigfig’s key element is the minifig head from the latest series 19 CMF video game champ. It has the little chin goatee just like mine and being double sided I can be happy or angry as well.

Weirdest place/s you’ve ever seen or discovered a LEGO brick?

I have 2 kids so LEGO bricks show up pretty much everywhere in our place but the weirdest place I've ever seen a LEGO element was probably when I got in huge trouble as a kid, when my mum found a blue flower element in my baby brother's nappy.

I started helping out at a few events, but once my interstate work travels died off and I was more regular at the events, it didn’t take long before I was welcomed to the team. And it's not just a team, it's like a LEGO family.

What are your very first memories of LEGO toys?

As a nine-year-old I remember being sent a LEGO set from my grandparents in the UK. But it was when my son, Tristan, was 35 years old that I took up LEGO building again as a real passion. Now, every Monday night, my son, his girlfriend and I get together and build with LEGO pieces. I also collect toy cars and have about 9000 of them – I never grew up, really!

    What’s your favourite LEGO theme?

Without a doubt, I like to build anything architectural. I love European architecture best – English and Victorian buildings.

Do you MOC? If so, describe your best ever MOC?

I like to build sets and I like to MOC. I’ll download plans off the internet and bring them along to BrickResales events to find the parts. With my MOCs, I have a wall of shelves at home, holding all the buildings I’ve completed. I’m about one-quarter of the way there to filling the wall.

Describe your current or most recent LEGO project?

I’m working on a modern-looking glass building, a big three-storey hotel (it’ll have about 6000 bricks in it) and a restaurant. I’m also working on the Stars Wars Death Star right now.

If you could build anything out of LEGO bricks, what would be your dream build?

I’d build Windsor Castle, with all the internals, or maybe Notre Dame. I’ve visited both in real life.

If you were building yourself as a LEGO sigfig, what would be the defining characteristic or LEGO accessory that your sigfig would have, that would make it so you?

It’d be short, fat and wearing glasses – ha! My sigfig would have a toy car in one hand and a LEGO brick in the other.

Weirdest place/s you’ve ever seen or discovered a LEGO brick?

In my underpants. Don’t ask ;)

Complete this sentence: I know I’m a total LEGO geek/fanatic because...

I spend more money on LEGO parts than I should!!

Tell us about your history/experience with BrickResales? What do you love most about BrickResales?

I’ve been coming to BrickResales events for about 12 months now and Judy provides such a great service. I love that you can get bricks at such a reasonable price here. I also really like that Judy gives back so much to charity. She sets a very high standard. Any fool can make money but to give back as good as you get is very impressive.

What are your very first memories of LEGO toys?

I remember as a 10-year-old having one 5L ice cream tub full of LEGO parts to play with – that was all. But we’d make so many things with that one tub! I got back into LEGO building seriously about two years ago.

    What’s your favourite LEGO theme?

LEGO Technics. I love helicopters and aeroplanes. I also love to build LEGO trains.

Do you MOC? If so, describe your best ever MOC?

If you were building yourself as a LEGO Minifigure, what would be the defining characteristic or LEGO accessory that your sigfig would have, that would make it so you?

I’m actually a scuba diving instructor as well, so my sigfig would be a diver.

Weirdest place/s you’ve ever seen or discovered a LEGO brick?

In the bottom of the donation boxes we receive at Aus Living Support. I often find just one or two bricks stuck under the flaps in the bottom of boxes.

I have a garage full of LEGO parts and builds (three walls are filled!) and our car has to park outside!

Tell us about your history/experience with BrickResales? What do you love most about BrickResales?

Aus Living Support learned about BrickResales in 2019 and ran some fundraising raffles through Judy which have been an amazing help. Judy herself is such a beautiful person! Personally, I love to download and print off my LEGO parts lists and rummage through the tubs at the BrickResales events – it’s fun and you never know what you’re going to find.

What are your very first memories of LEGO toys?
Definitely back in the 80s – I was five, and I got a box at the servo. I built it in two minutes even though my mum told me not to open it in the car. I’ve kept pretty much all of it ever, including an old Tonka truck.

I love Technic and City – all of the trucks and cranes and things.

Do you MOC (ie. build your own creations, sans-instructions)? If so, describe your best ever MOC?

Probably a spanner – or a knife, because I’m a butcher by trade.

Weirdest place/s you’ve ever seen or discovered a LEGO brick?
In the dirt outside. It was a piece from the 80s.

Shaking the presents under the Christmas Tree to see if they rattled 😂

What’s your favourite LEGO theme (ie. Star Wars, Harry Potter, City, Friends, Classic Space, Creator etc)?

I have to pick one?? Okay, Star Wars. I was so excited when The LEGO Group first released Star Wars sets. My two favourite things combined 😍

Do you MOC (ie. build your own creations, sans-instructions)? If so, describe your best ever MOC?

I haven't MOC'd yet. As a kid I'd build a set and then keep it pristine but having watched 'LEGO Masters' and found all sorts of inspiration on the internet I'm keen to give it a go. Just need more room!!

Describe your current or most recent LEGO project (Judy tells us you’ve been a regular in her online store buying knights, horses, cannons etc - are you working on something special)?

I'm looking at creating a couple of Medieval armies with knights, footmen and archers. The cannon are going to be used on pirate ships. I've got two of the 3-in-1 Pirate Ship and I plan to make one larger ship out of it. And if I can get two (or more!) of Barracuda Bay then I'll have another big ship to up gun!

I also buy minifigs and accessories for my partner, who probably has a bigger collection of unbuilt sets than I do. She reignited my passion for creating LEGO builds when we started dating three-and-a-half years ago.

If you could build anything out of LEGO bricks, what would be your dream build?

I'm slowly acquiring a small army of vikings from the CMF series 20. The plan is to build a long boat for them to go raiding in.

If you were building yourself as a LEGO Minifigure (called a “signature figurine” or “sigfig” for short), what would be the defining characteristic or LEGO accessory that your sigfig would have, that would make it so you?

Bald with glasses. Funnily enough I have a sigfig just like me which I won in a competition on BrickResales.

Weirdest place/s you’ve ever seen or discovered a LEGO brick?

My kids encouraged me to buy my dad a LEGO set for Father's Day one year. It sits on display in my parents lounge room.

What do you love most about BrickResales?

They let me order multiple times across the week and refund the excess shipping charges and they have a wide variety of items to chose from which are all top quality.

    Name, suburb, occupation

Claude Norval. Redland Bay. Software developer.

What are your very first memories of LEGO toys

Playing with my brother's classic Space LEGO sets and constructing my own little spaceships. I also fell in love with the Pirate theme and begged my father to purchase me a pirate ship for my birthday – we only got the small sets from The LEGO Group back in the day in South Africa, so I had a few minifigs and treasure chests but never a ship. My father bought me one from overseas on one of his business trips, and it was one of my favourite toys ever. I later bought a few other ships and nowadays it is a bit out of control. I've got about 16 ships and planning to get more.

What’s your favourite LEGO theme (ie. Star Wars, Harry Potter, City, Friends, Classic Space, Creator etc)?

So it goes without saying that my favourite theme is Pirates, closely followed by Kingdom – in fact, any fantasy-type theme like Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit.

Do you MOC (ie. build your own creations, sans-instructions)? If so, describe your best ever MOC?

I do indeed MOC! As a matter of fact, I'm currently busy with my first ever MOC…

Describe your current or most recent LEGO project?

It is an ambitious build of the Tower Bridge for our upcoming BrisBricks events and is part of the bigger train display being built with some amazing builders. I hope it makes the cut. I'm planning on doing a big MOC for my pirates, of course, and am striving to build a futuristic space pirate/cowboy MOC.

If you could build anything out of LEGO bricks, what would be your dream build?

I've got this vision to build a train track that runs along the top part of every room in my house, with different scenes as you go by. It will also do small tasks for me when I can't, and will solve the greatest problem humans have ever faced: running out of toilet paper. Toot, toot, here comes the train!

If you were building yourself as a LEGO Minifigure (called a “signature figurine” or “sigfig” for short), what would be the defining characteristic or LEGO accessory that your sigfig would have, that would make it so you?

I'm very much into hydroponic carding currently, so I guess some sort of shears and maybe a plant.

Weirdest place/s you’ve ever seen or discovered a LEGO brick?

On the lawn, in a nice pile of dog poo.

Complete this sentence: I know I’m a total LEGO geek/fanatic because...

When we moved over from South Africa the only reason we brought over a container was for our LEGO collection. It pretty much filled a 20ft container. It was pretty tough breaking up all our sets and my sister-in law and her family is currently enjoying rebuilding all of them.

Tell us about your history/experience with BrickResales? What do you love most about BrickResales?

My wife showed me an event by BrickResales on Facebook shortly after we arrived from South Africa. I remember feeling like a little kid again going through tubs of stuff to find hidden treasures. Ever since, I've tried to go to the pop-up shows – every time there is something new!

What are your very first memories of LEGO?

I remember sitting on my bedroom floor when I was three or four years old building on baseplates. The first ‘big’ word I ever learned to spell was ‘police’ because it was printed on a LEGO brick!

What’s your favourite LEGO theme (ie. Star Wars, Harry Potter, City, Friends, Classic Space, Creator etc)?

City has always been my favourite. I remember as a teenager building cities on my LEGO table where I challenged myself to use every single piece of LEGO I owned. I managed to reach this goal a few times, with thanks to the town dump, where any leftover pieces went!

Do you MOC (ie. build your own creations, sans-instructions)? If so, describe your best ever MOC?

I generally only build MOCs. I love creating from nothing. Probably my best ever completed MOC was my model of Canberra’s Old Parliament House. It stood at over two metres long, had nearly 30,000 bricks and took me 12 months to build. My other favourite build was a microscale Brisbane CBD recreation. I really enjoyed the search for building details to make sure my builds were as accurate as possible. When I’m recreating something from real life in microscale, those little details and key features are crucial. Thank goodness for Google maps and Google street view to help me with this build. Although part of the fun of this build was walking around Brisbane CBD taking photos of the buildings I couldn’t find online, which were key to getting it right.

Describe your current or most recent LEGO project?

I am currently working on a map of Australia that is filled with small scenes that represent Australian icons, landmarks and stories.

If you could build anything out of LEGO, what would be your dream build?

Similar to the Australia build I’m working on now, I’d love to do one that was the entire earth. That would be a fun challenge!

If you were building yourself as a LEGO Minifigure (called a “signature figurine” or “sigfig” for short), what would be the defining characteristic or LEGO accessory that your sigfig would have, that would make it so you?

Is there a minifig that is middle aged, slightly balding and rocking a “dad bod”? That would be perfect for me!

Weirdest place/s you’ve ever seen or discovered aLEGO brick?

I used to volunteer doing outreach work to homeless people living in abandoned buildings and on the streets in inner city Brisbane. I
remember one person having their ‘home’ set up in an abandoned building, with a lineup of minifigs on the window ledge.

Weirdest place/s you’ve ever seen or discovered a LEGO brick?

The weirdest place I’ve found a LEGO brick was when I was out shopping in Capalaba, I pulled up in the carpark and stepped out of the car to see a LEGO piece sitting on the ground beside my car. Name, age, suburb, occupation?

Fran Satya, 43, Drewvale, Civil Engineer

What are your very first memories of LEGO toys?

Playing with my Duplo set when I was one or two years old. It had an 8x2 piece with wheels and some blocks with swinging doors, one of which had police labelled on it and another had taxi on it. I used to build them up to make a multi-decker vehicle and drag it around by the string attached to one end of it. I would put the Duplo police figure and a few other Duplo figures in the vehicle and pretend they were going on a trip somewhere. Another memory was when I was about 7 and we went to visit family in Australia for the first time – I fell in love with my cousin's large LEGO collection. I played with them every chance we got, building all manner of buildings and caravans and buses.

What’s your favourite LEGO theme (ie. Star Wars, Harry Potter, City, Friends, Classic Space, Creator etc)?

LEGO City, Marvel, Ideas (especially 3in1), some Friends, some Disney and Jurassic World.

Do you MOC (ie. build your own creations, sans-instructions)? If so, describe your best ever MOC?

Back in the 80s and 90s I used to build many versions of multi-decker, fully equipped caravans, complete with kitchen and toilets. I also loved building cities and homes. One of my fondest memories was a MOC of a triple-decker caravan which I built fully equipped with bunk beds, kitchen, bathroom and toilet, complete with swinging internal doors. My best MOC is the floor plan of the dream home I envisioned for my real-life home, which we later got built in 2004. I used the LEGO parts to give me a better visualisation of how I wanted the rooms to look and where they would be located in the house, along with the walk-in closet and storage spaces. It was an awesome feeling to see my vision actually come to life.

Describe your current or most recent LEGO project?

I am working on building a city of my own so I have been collecting LEGO City police, hospital, ships for the wharf, planes for the airport and more so I can make my own paradise. I would also like to build a shopping strip with a cafe, book shop, library and more. A city zoo, amusement park and city fair would be some of my features too.

If you could build anything out of LEGO bricks, what would be your dream build?

To make a city build so big it would be like Madurodam in Holland. It would be complete with suburban homes, a nature reserve, lakes, dams, commercial and industrial areas. All of it would have moving parts and sounds and would look one way in the day and another way at night, and during special events of the year, like say Christmas or Chinese New Year, certain places will be decorated differently.

If you were building yourself as a LEGO Minifigure (called a “signature figurine” or “sigfig” for short), what would be the defining characteristic or LEGO accessory that your sigfig would have, that would make it so you?

Either a girl with a helmet on in cool casual wear and roller blades, or one with long hair with red streaks in hip hop wear with a mic in hand rocking it out on stage.

Weirdest place/s you’ve ever seen or discovered a LEGO brick?

At the public pool while swimming.

Complete this sentence: I know I’m a total LEGO geek/fanatic because...

When I go to the shops, I usually hone in on the toy section to see which LEGO sets are new or on sale.

Tell us about your history/experience with BrickResales? What do you love most about BrickResales?

My partner introduced me to BrickResales, and I love all the wonderful things we get from there, whether they are the bricks or specific minifigures I am looking for. What I love most about BrickResales is the ability to get my hands on items that are not available anymore. Yes, it is often the luck of the draw, but it is just like a treasure hunt going to the website searching for interesting items for builds/collection.

Pre-COVID-19 I loved sifting through the tubs and can’t wait to get back to doing that but I love the online site that Judy and her team have built from scratch but have discovered I’m an “impulse” buyer and can’t wait for the weekend's combined postage.

    Name, age, suburb, occupation?

Hello, I’m Samuel Falzon; I am 21 years old and am currently studying as a medical student on the Sunshine Coast.

What are your very first memories of LEGO toys?

I think that LEGO has always been in my life; it has been a way to express creativity and fun in a way unlike anything else. One of my favourite memories which I distinctly remember was on one Easter (I think I was 4 or 5). The night before, my mother and father had secretly made a whole little town of houses and cars out of the family stash of LEGO, and hid Easter Eggs inside them all! As a kid… waking up to find Easter chocolate in LEGO was a seriously winning combination.

What’s your favourite LEGO theme (ie. Star Wars, Harry Potter, City, Friends,Classic Space, Creator etc)?

I ama massive fan and collector of LEGO Star Wars, Harry Potter and the Holiday ‘Winter Village’ series. But my all-time favourite theme is the discontinued Lord of the Rings and Hobbit sets. I am a bit of a Tolkien nerd, so seeing my favourite characters in LEGO was amazing. I also thought that the detail in those sets was well ahead of its time, so, I was devastated when it was announced that the series was no longer going to be produced. Bring it back LEGO!

Do you MOC (ie. build your own creations, sans-instructions)? If so, describe your best ever MOC?

I think I developed a knack for small-scale MOCs when I was younger; I became quite good at using limited pieces to make space-ships and vehicles. During high school I didn’t get to MOC very often, but I did invent a strategy game which I called ‘LEGO Onslaught’. I think – in principle – it is similar to Warhammer. Anyway, Onslaught has become a personal favourite ‘MOC’, because it involved creativity and strategy to both create, and play; my cousins, brother and I played for 3 days straight… and didn’t finish! One day we will find out who actually deserves to win.

Describe your current or most recent LEGO project?

My most recent LEGO project has been my first large-scale MOC, which I called ‘The 'Tower of the Fright Knights’, and I worked on it on and off for 4 months. It is an intimidating tower on a rocky islet, with a landscape connected by a narrow causeway. I based it off The Fright Knights sub-theme of LEGO Castle, which was sold from 1997 (the year I was born) until 1998. I thought it would be a great idea to use some of the original colours chemes (black and red) for this build and use bat imagery too. I am very proud of this creation!

If you could build anything out of LEGO bricks, what would be your dream build?

I would create a massive landscape, in which I could embed my absolute favourite LEGO sets like the Tower of Orthanc, the Endor bunker and Hogwarts Castle, and surround them with detailed
    environments and scenes.

If you were building yourself as a LEGO Minifigure (called a “signature figurine” or “sigfig” for short), what would be the defining characteristic or LEGO accessory that your sigfig would have, that would make it so you?

Oooh… that is a hard one! I reckon, he’d have to be wearing medical scrubs, and holding a plain red LEGO brick in one hand. That way, I would be a doctor who still loves LEGO!

Weirdest place/s you’ve ever seen or discovered a LEGO brick?

I once lost a piece of LEGO for about half a year belonging to a Jedi Starfighter; anyway, the ‘weird place’ I saw this piece was whilst I was dreaming. I had dreamt that I had put the piece in a box in my room; that next day… I looked in that box… and there the piece was! Unfortunately, this didn’t happen for any of the other pieces I lost over time.

Complete this sentence: I know I’m atotal LEGO geek/fanatic because...

There are some days where I probably should be studying… and spend the whole day playing with LEGO instead!

Tell us about your history/experience with BrickResales? What do you love most about BrickResales?

I found BrickResales about 2 years ago when it coincidentally popped up on my Facebook feed. I saw that they did events, and I thought it might be nice to give that a go… I was won overinstantly! My favourite aspect of BrickResales has to be the atmosphere of the events (which I have missed this year, though the online store has been awesome too). There is nothing quite as good as knowing you are part of a huge family of fanatical LEGO lovers!

    Name, age, suburb, occupation?

Lyn Howard, 73, Mount Ommaney, writer

What are your very first memories of LEGO toys?

My first memories are more recent than a lot of AFOLs as no one I knew had any LEGO when I was young, possibly because of the expense. I always wanted a train set when I was a child but no go for girls 😁. I had to covet the train sets of boy neighbours. About fifteen years ago I saw a LEGO train kit and had an 'ah ha' moment. It was all downhill from there.

What’s your favourite LEGO theme (ie. Star Wars, Harry Potter, City, Friends, Classic Space, Creatoretc)?

My favourite LEGO theme is probably CITY.

Do you MOC (ie. build your own creations, sans-instructions)? If so, describe your best ever MOC?

I haven't really done any MOCs to date but I’m thinking about it.

Describe your current or most recent LEGO project?

I’m currently building Pirates of Barracuda Bay.

If you could build anything out of LEGO bricks, what would be your dream build?

    Our house!

If you were building yourself as a LEGO Minifigure (called a “signature figurine” or “sigfig” for short), what would be the defining characteristic or LEGO accessory that your sigfig would have, that would make it so you?

A cute little fat lady with short hair, glasses, book in one hand, brick separator in the other.

Weirdest place/s you’ve ever seen or discovered a LEGO brick?

In the supermarket, on a grocery shelf.

Complete this sentence: I know I’m a total LEGO geek/fanatic because...

I know I'm a total LEGO fanatic when I see someone's eyes glaze over when I'm talking LEGO.

Tell us about your history/experience with BrickResales? What do you love most about BrickResales?

I so enjoy sifting through tubs of LEGO pieces with my partner collecting missing pieces for our 'alternate' builds. I have been doing this for a couple of years and really miss it due to the restrictions. Getting back to it is something to look forward to. I also admire that BrickResales support such worthy charities.

Playing with Duplo. I’m the one who got my family into LEGO building, but we’re all addicted to it now. They saw its greatness, like it did!

    Ninjago.

Do you MOC (ie. build your own creations, sans-instructions)? If so, describe your best ever MOC?

Yes! My best ever MOC is definitely the wearable Mandalorian helmet I made.

Describe your current or most recent LEGO project?

An Indiana Jones boulder chase. I started it yesterday, and it should probably take about a week.

My family are also making a huge Disneyland build - that's what I built this Mickey Mouse for.

If you could build anything out of LEGO bricks, what would be your dream build?

A full, life-size Iron Man armour.

If you were building yourself as a LEGO Minifigure (called a “signature figurine” or “sigfig” for short), what would be the defining characteristic or LEGO accessory that your sigfig would have, that would make it so you?

Probably a Minifigure wearing a Mandalorian helmet.

Weirdest place/s you’ve ever seen or discovered a LEGO brick?

In my shoe, and my library bag… they’re everywhere.

Complete this sentence: I know I’m a total LEGO geek/fanatic because...

My bed is underneath my LEGO City!

Tell us about your history/experience with BrickResales? What do you love most about BrickResales?

We’ve been to events for the past three years. My mum has even taken our BrickResales bag to Japan and taken photos of it.

    Name, age,suburb, occupation?

Finn and Greg. Windsor. Doctor and school student.

What are your very first memories of LEGO toys?

Finn: Building things with Dad, when I was very young. I built a lot with his old bricks.

Greg: I would have been between 6 and 8, it was definitely in the 60s. The sets looked a lot different than they do now.

What’s your favourite LEGO theme (ie. Star Wars, Harry Potter, City, Friends, Classic Space, Creator etc)?

Finn: Star Wars, City, Creator… basically all of them!

Greg: Honestly, whatever Finn likes. I’m partial to the old Batman sets, but I’m happy to build anything.

Do you MOC (ie. build your own creations, sans-instructions)? If so, describe your best ever MOC?

Finn: I build sets and also MOC. I like making stop-motion projects for my YouTube channel.

Greg: I do most of the sorting and cleaning for Finn.

Describe your current or most recent LEGO project?

Finn: I’ve been doing a lot of little town scenes, and I recently built Tatooine from Star Wars.

If you could build anything out of LEGO bricks, what would be your dream build?

Finn: I would love to build an enormous spaceship and fill out all of the nooks and crannies. I would also love to make a large-scale underground bunker.

Greg: I would definitely help out with the bunker!

If you were building yourself as a LEGO Minifigure (called a “signature figurine” or “sigfig” for short), what would be the defining characteristic or LEGO accessory that your sigfig would have, that would make it so you?

Finn: Dad would definitely be bald!

Greg: Finn would have to be a cactus, as there area lot of cactus references in his YouTube videos.

Weirdest place/s you’ve ever seen or discovered a LEGO brick?

Finn: Part of our couch at home moves, and I always lose my LEGO bricks down there – I can only imagine how many pieces we would find it we broke the couch apart to have a look!

Complete this sentence: I know I’m a total LEGO geek/fanatic because...

Finn: I spend more time building that I do gaming.

Greg: My best moment as a dad was when I had bought two very expensive LEGO sets for Finn’s birthday, and I had them hidden in the house for a month – I spent the whole month imagining the look on his face, and it was just as good as I’d hoped it would be!

Tell us about your history/experience with BrickResales? What do you love most aboutBrickResales?

Finn: I actually found them through Instagram about eight months ago, and I couldn’t believe a place like this existed.

Greg: We joined the VIP club and couldn’t believe how much LEGO Finn was getting every month – we actually had to stop for a bit because he ended up with too much LEGO!

    Name, age, suburb, occupation?

Matt O'Brien, 39, Albany Creek, Public Servant

What are your very first memories of LEGO toys?

My first memories of LEGO growing up would be the 'Fabuland' series and also the LEGO shows displayed at 'Tops' in the city Myer Centre.

What’s your favourite LEGO theme (ie. Star Wars, Harry Potter, City, Friends, Classic Space, Creator etc)?

Star Wars especially the UCS Ultimate Collectors Series.

Do you MOC (ie. build your own creations, sans-instructions)? If so, describe your best ever MOC?

Best MOC to date would be my 'Blue Squadron' training base. It was a free-standing atmospheric space installation that featured 6 BTL-A4 Y-Wing starfighters. The build presented a lot of structural challenges and looked amazing on display. It won the BrisBricks award for 'Intermediate Uniqueness' at both the Morayfield and Chandler shows in 2019.

Describe your current or most recent LEGO project?

I have several projects presently on the go. One is a Tatooine display that features a working Sarlacc Pit. I have also started a Cloud City display that incorporates the UCS Millennium Falcon. And to move away from the Star Wars theme I’ve being toying with the theme of Ancient Rome. I'm really looking toward to our BrisBrick shows returning without being impacted by Covid.

If you could build anything out of LEGO bricks, what would be your dream build?

Mortesv's UCS Nebulon-B Medical Frigate. Last time I checked the pieces from Brick Link were above 2k which i just can't justify.

If you were building yourself as a LEGO Minifigure (called a “signature figurine” or “sigfig” forshort), what would be the defining characteristic or LEGO accessory that your sigfig would have, that would make it so you?

The takeaway coffee cup accessory for sure!

Weirdest place/s you’ve ever seen or discovered a LEGO brick?

A blue 2x4 brick at the local tip (dump) and it was in the green waste section of all places, hahahaha.

Complete this sentence: I know I’m a total LEGO geek/fanatic because...

    I think about LEGO daily.

Tell us about your history/experience with BrickResales? What do you love most about BrickResales?

I've been a BrickResales customer since the early days where only a handful of LEGO tubs were offered at the Pine Rivers Bowls Club. Since then Judy and Greg have worked extremely hard to have grown this amazing concept into the business it is today. Having access to such a large variety of LEGO pieces is an absolute dream for anyone who loves LEGO.

    Name, age, suburb, occupation?

Vinny Scuderi, 36, Coorparoo, Production Manager.

What are your very first memories of LEGO toys?

As a kid receiving my very first “big” LEGO set for Christmas in the 90’s, after hassling my parents for an entire year to buy it for me. I still have it today, set #6389, Fire Control Centre.

What’s your favourite LEGO theme (ie. Star Wars, Harry Potter, City, Friends, Classic Space, Creator etc)?

    Technic.

Do you MOC (ie. Build your own creations,sans-instructions)? If so, describe your best ever MOC?

I don’t create MOCs myself, however, I enjoy building other designers’ MOCs and then adding my own touch to them.

Describe your current or most current LEGO project?

I’m currently building a custom MOC via plans I bought from a fellow AFOL in Germany. It’s a remote control Mercedes Arocs SLT Truck witha red/black colour scheme.

If you could build anything out of LEGO bricks, what would be your dream build?

That’s a tough one. Probably a massive Australian roadtrain. I.e. Prime mover + multiple trailers. Remote control, of course.

If you were building yourself as a LEGO Minifigure (called a “signature figurine” or “sigfig” for short), what would be the defining characteristic or LEGO accessory that your sigfig would have, that would make it so you?

    A bicycle.

Weirdest place/s you’ve ever seen or discovered a LEGO brick?

At the bottom of my friend’s fish tank.

    Complete this sentence: I know I’m a total LEGO geek/fanatic because…

I have multiple shelving units full from top to bottom of LEGO models and spare parts.

Tell us about your history/experience with BrickResales? What do you love most about BrickResales?

I attended my first pick-a-brick event in 2017. Back then it was being held in a community church hall in Strathpine. I’d never been to any type of LEGO event like this before, and I had no idea what to expect. Walking through the door, I was in awe of the sheer amount of LEGO, all of which was for sale. Never had I seen that much in one space at one time, and needless to say, I was hooked! I really enjoy the thrill of the hunt for the specific pieces you need for a build. You never know what you’re going to find, and always end up walking out with extra “spare” bricks. I love how BrickResales is a community of LEGO fans of all ages, and, anyone and everyone is welcome. I’ve made some great new friendships through the events, who I regularly keep in contact with to socialise, trade parts and talk all things LEGO.
